We headed over to Provo cemetery for a memorial day program that included reciting The Pledge of Allegiance and singing The Star Spangled Banner (which Minnette and Aurelle were very excited about since we've spent time learning them over the last year), other patriotic songs performed by a local high school band, a special prayer in gratitude for those who have served and lost their lives for our country and the freedoms we are blessed to have, and a 21 guns salute:
That night, we headed to the BYU war memorial an had a special family home evening (some ideas here, here and here) after we looked at pictures and read stories of BYU student veterans who lost their lives at war, and looked at the list of names of all those who have died serving our country in the military.
We also enjoyed a family picnic at a park along with some patriotic crafts at home, since just having a day together as a family is pretty special and important, too! :)
