Curlers

The two big girls got a box of sponge curlers in their Valentine's baskets a couple of months ago, and last week, I finally decided to try them out! After their bath, before bed time I put their hair in curlers while it was still damp, and since they have to sleep in them I was worried that they would mess with them and end up pulling them all out throughout the night, But I guess since I have them on such a strict daily hair styling regiment (meaning: I do their hair every day) they are used to having things in their hair and not messing with it, they never even touched them and woke up the next morning with all of their curlers pretty much perfectly intact!

Here they are modeling their grandma-curler hair (Kyle said they looked like old ladies witht their hair in curlers like this!):

I just love how Aurelle always looks to Minnette for what to do. Kyle and I joke that no matter how many kids we have, we only really need to worry about raising one of them... so as long as Minnette is doing the right things, all of the younger ones (starting with Aurelle) will simply just do what she is doing and they'll be taken care of (haha- I'm sure it will be that easy, right?):

...and from the back:

I just couldn't help myself! Can you blame me? How cute are those buns?!

The next morning after taking them out:

So I decided to try a little experiment since I'm new to the whole sponge-curling thing: I used a flexible hold hair gel in Aurelle's hair and used hair mousse in Minnette's... ummm, I think we just might have a winner:

Seriously. Aurelle's hair still cracks me up! It doesn't help that her hair is still pretty short, so I had to use the tiniest pink-sized curlers that were in the box... what a frizzy, curly mess! I opted for putting her hair in high pigtails for the day which helped manage the fro:

After pinning Minnette's bangs back and gravity doing it's job for an hour or so, Minnette's hair was simply precious.

I have tons of memories of my mom putting sponge curlersin my hair when I was little, so it is so fun to finally be able to do the same thing with my girls now... I love having girls! Thanks for being such cooperative little guinea pigs for mommy, girls! I love you and your crazy, frizzy curls, too!!

Jovi, Jovi, Jovi!

Since getting back into updating our family blog from the last 5 months, I have realized that there are so many updates that I have been wanting to about Jovi, especially- since she has obviously done the most growing and changing in the last 6 months or so- so I thought I could post several videos of what Jovi's been up to in the last little while. So please get ready for a Jovi video overload!

Jovi right around the time when she first started pulling herself up to standing. For all of my girls, they first did this in their cribs. So, every morning, and afeter every nap- this is what I would walk into: a smiling face just over the crib rail!

When Jovi was happy or excited, she would kick her legs while hanging in the air- and I just thought it was the funniest thing:

Jovi being silly and slamming her face into the couch- whih as far as we could tell was Jovi's attempt at dancing :)

Jovi reading books. She crawls over to the book cabinet, opens the door and quickly empties it's contents in one avalanche of books at least 2 or 3 times a day. She seriously loves books, and will pick a book and turn the pages one at a time to look at all of the pictures... what a little book worm!

Jovi loves climbing on top of and into anything she can!

Jovi crawling and playing/falling:

This video is a little long (almost 6 1/2 minutes!) but it shows so much of Jovi's personality, I couldn't not share it! You can see her starting to walk along with some of our push-a-long toys (she will be a walker very soon), playing with baby dolls, especially the tiny baby which is her favorite toy right now, and her newest habit of babbling (the growling and spitting has been around for ages).

First of all, I would just ask that you please ignore my ridiculously retarded commentary slash silly baby talking voices in these videos (you know... that awkward moment when you post a video on your blog for the world to see and realize you sound like a total idiot... for the world to hear... haha, yea- that would be me while creating this post!)
And secondly, I also wanted to mention that after watching all of these videos, I was able to gain a greater appreciation for what a HAPPY baby Jovi is... I mean, seriously- is she ever not smiling?? I guess I just wanted to say how grateful I am for our sweet little Jovi, and I so love and appreciate that she is such a happy and content and easy-going little sweetheart! Yes, certainly there have been a few challenges that came along with bringing a third child into our family, but the joy and blessings of doing so have FAR outweighed and exceeded any of them, and Jovi has certainly made all of the transitions ridiculously easy on us! Who couldn't love that sweet little smile and that huge diaper bum??

We love you so much, Jovi!

Easter Dresses 2012

It is difficult to say for sure... but I am pretty sure that this was the best picture that we were able to get of the girls in their Easter dresses - but considering we have three girls 3 and under after a three hour church meeting staring into the sun wearing tights- any picture is a success! They are beutiful, though, I must say:

I always love looking through the "bloopers" from our girls' photo shoots, they always make me laugh. Here you can see what happens when you point a camera at a pre-schooler, a toddler and a baby and just how many attempts it takes in order to get a semi-decent picture:

Love this one. Poor Jovi...

I love that Jovi is trying to see what Aurelle is doing:

... and Jovi trying to crawl away:

Absoltely LOVE Aurelle's chipmunk smile in this one:

Can you tell that it was bright??

It may look like it from these last few pictures, but Jovi is actually not a thumb sucker! (thank goodness!)

Thank you so much to Grandma and Grandpa Murphy for the beautiful Easter dresses, the girls looked so beautiful!!

Happy Easter!
