St. Patrick's Day

This year, the Willman Family celebrated our 2nd year in a row of St. Patrick's Day festivities. I love pretending that small hiolidays are just as cool as the big holidays... it gives me a good excuse to decorate/plan and cook fun things/buy the girls presents!

Here is our little Wymount apartment in all of it's St. Patrick's Day glory: I am sad that all of these pictures are so blurry. St. Patty's Day just happened to fall right in the middle of our two week camera hiatus where our digital camera mysteriously disappeared. All of these pictures were taken with our video camera. But good news... our digital camera has since been recovered!

The leprechauns somehow managed to break into our apartment sometime during the night, and left all these goodies for us to find in the morning: I think Minnette was excited: Minnette got some new toy instruments for our "music time" bucket (Mommy can only handle massive amounts of noise (ahem... I mean "music") for so long before instruments get put away until the next "music time"... genius, right?)Those leprechauns are pretty mischievious, but sure know what they are doing!

Shortly after the girls went through their buckets, we started off our St. Patty's Day festivities with a breakfast feast of nothing other than... Lucky Charms: Literally, within minutes, both of the girls had picked thier bowls clean of all of the marshmallows and had a bowl full of plain cereal left and were asking for more! Can you tell they don't get these very often?

For our morning snack I attempted my very first homemade green smoothie... though I can't say that I was very successful since Aurelle was the only one who actually drank hers. Sigh... For lunch we had green sandwich wraps and green grapes (not pictured), and our dinner feast was, unfortunately, postponed to the next night due to the fact that Kyle had class in Salt Lake on St. Patrick's Day and didn't get home until 8:30 pm... and he definitely didn't want to miss out on the delicious dinner I had planned this year. As opposed to the "random green foods and foods dyed green" meal I planned last year- which was honestly, not very appetizing, this year I decided to go with authentic Irich food... LAMB STEW: This was seriously one of the best stews I've ever had in my life... and it was super easy to make! My neighbors were literally asking me what I was making for dinner because they could smell it as they came up the stairs and it smelled SO GOOD. It was definitely a success! And no St. Patrick's day dinner would be complete without a little green bubbly! ...Or my first SUCCESSFUL attempt at rainbow jello:

And for dessert...

Now, this beauty was inspired by a link my sister sent me on how to make a zebra striped cake, which I decided to turn into a rainbow cake! It was sooo easy, and I think it turned out AMAZING... I didn't even want to frost this sucker, it looked so cool:

So yummm... Minnette was happy just to be eating cake... but RAINBOW colored cake?? One very happy girl:
