Twinners

A lot of people have asked me whether or not I think that Minnette and Aurelle look alike. Here are a couple of pictures of both of them around 2 months old wearing the same outfit... aside from the difference in eye color and Minnette weighing 2 pounds more than Aurelle at the same age... you tell me!
Ugh! the cuteness of those chubby cheeks and thighs just KILLS ME!!
Aurelle is the one with the brown backround, Minnette has the pink backround... Just in case the weight description didn't help you indentify which one was which! ;)

And speaking of twinners... I just happen to realize the other day that Aurelle and I have the exact same shoes... just in slightly different sizes

Hungry? Why wait?

I am so excited that Minnette is now old enough to do arts and crafts... well sort of... at least for very short periods of time and under very close supervision because she insists on eating everything!! No wonder everything Crayola makes is non-toxic!
Finger painting for the first time
And this is literally the FIRST thing she did with the fingerpaint...
And again with the crayons...
here she is removing a giant chunk of green grayon from her mouth

These are just funny.

Aurelle wanted to color, too.

Our little Aurelly-belle!

Dear Aurelle,
I can not believe that you are two months old already!
You have the sweetest spirit and you are such a beautiful baby girl!
Your daddy, Minnette and I love you so much and you make us all so happy.
You are our dainty blue-eyed girl,
the sensitive one.
When you cry, you are so sad and so sweet and it makes my heart sad.
When you smile, you make my day,
and when you sleep, I get to sleep!

We are so grateful to have you as a part of our family and we love you!

Aurelle's 2 month stats:

Height: 21 1/2 inches - 50th percentile

Weight: 11 pounds 1 ounce - 50th percentile

Head: 38 centimeters - 26th percentile

-Aurelle now smiles and coos all the time... especially for her mommy!

-She sleeps up to 6 hours straight at night! (woo hoo!!)

-We have just started tummy-time practice and she is NOT a fan!

-She will suck on her binky so hard that if you take it out she'll have a red ring around her mouth where the binky was.

-Minnette is a Daddy's girl... but Aurelle is a MOMMY'S GIRL! (and I LOVE it!)

THE END.

Christmas Time Festivities

The Pre-Christmas

Our Christmas-time festivites began back in November with Kyle's family with the annual Willman Family gingerbread house (actually graham cracker house) building extravaganza.

Here is the most of the family working hard on their gingerbread houses. Anyone not pictured in this photo was on baby and/or toddler duty... there are a few of those around these days!

This is no traditional gingerbread house making experience as you can see:

The Aaron's gingerbread man. I love his hair!

Amber and Raquel's...
What? You can't tell what it is supposed to be?? Haha, the first ever gingerbread Wall-e!

Dallin and Ashley made a tootsie roll covered tee-pee complete with a garden and firepit

Aliyah was able to participate this year and this was her beautiful mini-gingerbread house creation. You can tell how small her house is by the size of the hershey's kiss on top of it. Love the massive mound of yellow sprinkles!

John (Kyle's dad) can always be counted on for the all-out gingerbread log cabin. This man is all about the details: shingled roof, paneled walls, fence, walkway and of course, snow. Having worked in construction his whole life as well as designed and built his own house you would expect nothing less!

And last but not least, our trojan horse

WARNING: The following image is both graphic and disturbing...
We believe foul play was involved.
Putting up Christmas decorations is a very big part of my childhood Christmas memories. Every year, the day after Thanksgiving was spent by my family putting up lights, the tree and putting decorations on the tree. This year Minnette was able to help decorate my parents' Christmas tree, (and by help I mean she kind of helped me hang one ornament on the tree!!) though several weeks after Thanksgiving due to my parents final return from Slovakia in the middle of December.

Minnette's Christmas Hair

Aurelle is so excited to open presents!

Minnette opening her first present on Christmas morning! This is about all we got out of her. After one or two tears of the wrapping paper she was out. Kyle and I ended up opening the rest of her presents while she ran around and tried to steal ornaments off the tree! Oh well, maybe next year!

Aurelle helped open one, too!

This present was from Minnette and she even helped color the wrapping paper!

Day after Christmas

We planned a night out with my parents to see the temple lights since we only got to go once and it was the Monday night before Christmas and the temple grounds were insane! I'm thinking that everyone else may have had the exact same idea for the family home evening before Christmas as we did! The day after Christmas was waaay better. Much less chaotic. Much more enjoyable.

First, though, we went to Organ Stop for dinner. If you have never been, go. It is such a fun experience.
Minnette had a blast watching the show. Especially the dancing cats, which I guess she thought were dogs because she kept saying "fuff, fuff!" (her word for dog) over and over again. I think she liked the pizza, too!

Minnette enjoying the show

Aurelle had a hard time with all of the music (which can get kind of loud), clapping and flashing lights and my mom ended up having to work her Grandma baby magic to help her go to sleep.

Our family at the temple lights by the reflecting pool.

By the wisemen which are a temple lights classic
We hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas this year!

No, No, No

The newest two letter word to enter Minnette's vocabulary. No. What's so great is that she doesn't use it in the typical defiant toddler context... well, not yet, anyway! She uses it to let us know that she does not want to eat more of something, or after we ask her not to play with something she'll walk away shaking her head saying "No, no, no." It's actually pretty cute and funny... at least for now!

Bumbo!!

Look who thinks she's just so big:
Aurelle loves to sit in her bumbo and I am so excited for her to use this thing because I am sure that it will become a lifesaver in the months to come! What with chasing around a 16 month old and all! :)
Big yawn...
This is normal.
Scared or surprised? Or maybe she is just really, really excited...
Smiles!

And, of course, Minnette wanted in on all the fun, too!
I can't believe that she actually fit!

Hair

Oh, the many hairstyles of Minnette...
We do what we can, but what can I say... she likes to be extreme!

That is why I am so, so happy to announce that Minnette's hair finally does pigtails! This is HUGE, since although only Minnette, being the cutest one year old in the world, can pull off the mullet/70's boy band hair... it just did not work for me. Pigtails=cute and I am ECSTATIC!!
Check out the laser straight precision of that part... I guess I'll have to work on that!
The ponytail:
Now I only have to wait for french braids and spiral curls! Eek!
