Cowboy Date- July 2012

While we were in Phoenix over the summer, Kyle planned and took me on a total surprise date to my very first ever rodeo! There is an awesome little BBQ restaurant in Cave Creek (which is only about a 20 minute drive from Kyle's parent's house... so awesome!) which has amazing food, and as soon as you are done eating, you can head right out the back door to watch a free rodeo competition!

The arena (we were able to nab some pretty sweet seats!):

The first bull ride:

A couple sweet videos of both the steer and bull rounds (I have no idea why, but we didn't get ANY videos of the little kids riding the sheep, which is seriously unfortunate because it was so darn adorable!)

Now, I didn't know this before, but in order to score any points at all, a rider must remain on his steer/bull for a minimum of 6 seconds... or else they don't even qualify. Through the entire competition the night we were there, not a single rider was able to stay on for the minimum 6 seconds... so nobody won or even scored a single point! How crazy is that?

This video is a little blurry, but I had to post it. This has got to be, without a doubt, the best bull dismount I've ever seen:

This guy, on the other hand, wasn't nearly as lucky... ouch!

One of the bulls got a little moody and refused leave the arena... and actually chased this poor guy down (more than once) and ended up giving him a couple good jabs in the rear. Talk about great entertainment! Here he was during one of his escape attempts:

Here's a short video we shot of the aforementioned "angry bull"... it was probably a solid 15 minutes before they were able to get him to finally leave and stop terrorizing the announcers!

And in case you wondering if we had fun or not: These are the beads I won for screaming like such a crazy person (nerdiness is rewarded! Haha.):

Such an awesome, super-fun date! (P.S.-  Just so you know: dressing like a total scrub is not typical for me when going on a hot date with the huz... but I was about 7-8 weeks pregnant and feeling it this night, in particular, so can you really blame me?? Haha... besides, despite not wearing cowboy boots or hat, we were dressed like just about everyone else there! P.P.S.- Totally wearing cowboy boots and/or hat next time!!)
