The leprechauns somehow managed to break into our apartment sometime during the night, and left all these goodies for us to find in the morning: I think Minnette was excited:
Minnette got some new toy instruments for our "music time" bucket (Mommy can only handle massive amounts of noise (ahem... I mean "music") for so long before instruments get put away until the next "music time"... genius, right?)
Those leprechauns are pretty mischievious, but sure know what they are doing!
Minnette's treat bag full of RAINBOW treaties! (skittles, M&M's, etc.)Aurelle got some water colors and paintbrushes for craft time and a CD of the children's primary songs! Here she is, though, much more interested in the grass at the bottom of her "pot of gold":
Aurelle and her treatie bag:
Minnette and Aurelle in their festive green outfits (and if you think they don't look very excited, it is only because this picture was actually taken just after nap time!):
For our morning snack I attempted my very first homemade green smoothie... though I can't say that I was very successful since Aurelle was the only one who actually drank hers. Sigh... For lunch we had green sandwich wraps and green grapes (not pictured), and our dinner feast was, unfortunately, postponed to the next night due to the fact that Kyle had class in Salt Lake on St. Patrick's Day and didn't get home until 8:30 pm... and he definitely didn't want to miss out on the delicious dinner I had planned this year. As opposed to the "random green foods and foods dyed green" meal I planned last year- which was honestly, not very appetizing, this year I decided to go with authentic Irich food... LAMB STEW:
This was seriously one of the best stews I've ever had in my life... and it was super easy to make! My neighbors were literally asking me what I was making for dinner because they could smell it as they came up the stairs and it smelled SO GOOD. It was definitely a success!
And no St. Patrick's day dinner would be complete without a little green bubbly!
...Or my first SUCCESSFUL attempt at rainbow jello:
So yummm...
I tried getting Aurelle to smile, but she was a little busy... eating cake:

So cool!! What is the link for the rainbow cake? I'd like to try that sometime!
I am super impressed with the Jello, actually! And good call on not dyeing random foods green. That always makes me want to vomit into some tin foil whenever I see that. An authentic Irish dish is so much better!
KAYLA- the link for the originally Zebra turned rainbow striped cake is: http://thewhimsicalcupcake.wordpress.com/2011/02/17/zebra-cake/
I just laft all of the batter as vanilla and seperated it into 6 bowls and dyed it all different colors. My sister and I also decided that the color combinations/holiday applications for this cake are EBDLESS... sooo excited to try this again for another holiday!
GINA- I can send you the directions for the layered jello if you want... it's super easy, only slightly time-consuming (you have to plan ahead and usually start it the day before) but the color combinations for this one are endless, too! Red and green for Christmas, purple and orange for Halloween, etc!
Here's a link to another fun jello recipe I'd like to try for some future holiday (can also be adapted to specific holiday colors) which is super-impressive looking, but is actually ridiculously easy to do:

Yes, please send me the recipe for the layered jello (or just blog it and look super awesome on your blog!). I LOVE the look of that stained glass jello! Does it taste good, I wonder?
You're my inspiration
And, uh, what the heck is happening with your auto player???? Liquid Tension Experiment?
